TAKACAT Inflatable Boats - The Ideal Fishing Platform

TAKACAT Inflatable Boats - The Ideal Fishing Platform

Why More Fishos Are Switching to Takacat Catamarans

If you’ve been out on the water lately, you’ve probably spotted more and more anglers cruising around in Takacat Catamarans. From salty estuaries to freshwater lakes, these boats are showing up everywhere—and it’s easy to see why.

The Takacat LX and Sport series strike the perfect balance for fishing: stable, safe, and incredibly portable. Pack them down to stash in the garage or camper, then inflate them into a solid platform that feels much bigger than it looks.

Getting into the skinny water

With their shallow-draft catamaran hulls, Takacats give you access to places other boats simply can’t reach. Slide into mangroves chasing trevally, work the kelp beds for snapper, or sneak along the lake and river edges for trout. Instead of wishing you could get closer, you can go exactly where the fish are.

Stand up, cast out, and relax

One of Takacat’s biggest advantages is stability. You can stand and cast, move around, and haul in your catch without worrying about tipping over. That’s also why so many kayak anglers are stepping up to Takacat—gaining extra room and confidence while still keeping easy portability and storage.

But what about sharp stuff?

A common question we hear is, “Aren’t you worried about hooks or spines in an inflatable boat?” The truth is, it’s rarely an issue. Just keep these tips in mind:

Hooks: They usually glance right off—no dramas.

Fish spines: Land your catch with a net straight into an esky (or as we Kiwis say, a “chilly bin”!). Don’t let it flop around onboard or you might end up with a small pinhole. If that ever happens, don’t panic—they’re quick and easy to fix.

Knives: Always cut bait on a baitboard, then store your knife in a sheath when not in use.

Cray pots: A strip of garage carpet will protect your deck and tubes while hauling—or choose the LX-R series with its durable aluminium deck.

Deck out your fishing machine

Part of the fun is customising your setup. From rod holders and rocket launchers to bait boards, chilly bins, and beach wheels, there are plenty of accessories to kit out your Takacat. The result? A capable, cost-effective fishing machine that’s ready for adventure.

So next time you spot someone standing tall and reeling in a prize catch from what looks like a “blow-up boat,” take a closer look—it’s probably a Takacat. And it could be your next fishing upgrade.
